From the website “The mission of Irish Friends of 127 is  to restore the Wellington Rooms, 127 Mount Pleasant, to provide a commercially sustainable world class centre for the promotion of Irish cultural activities.

We aim to ensure:

-Recognition and enhancement of heritage activities connected with the building and Irish culture
-Engagement and participation with the Irish and wider communities
-Development of sustainable employment, training and commercial opportunities

Irish Friends of 127 is a Community Interest Company that was formed in July 2012 following a Heritage Open Day held at 127 Mount Pleasant (the former Wellington Rooms/Irish Centre)

“The building was opened to visitors for the two day event” and the “number of visitors wildly exceeded expectations with over 700 people passing through its doors and enjoying the nostalgia that the building holds from it’s days as the Irish centre and beyond, despite its current state of disrepair  deterioration”
